What the Hell is Hashing?
Born in 1938 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. A bunch of Brits needed exercise and beer.
The Hash House Harriers were born. Named after their meeting spot's dodgy food.
Today? We're worldwide. Same spirit: running, drinking, and not taking ourselves seriously.
Every Saturday we chase chalk, flour or paper trails through selected city of hares choice. Sometimes we find our way back.
The Rules (Sort Of)
-
Follow flour, chalk or paper
-
Drink beer at beer checks and after
-
Sing questionable songs
-
Return for next trail
Our Ridiculous History
1938 - The Beginning
British colonial officers in Kuala Lumpur invent hashing. Brilliant excuse for Monday piss-ups.
1960s - Global Spread
Hash spreads like a questionable rash. Singapore, Jakarta, then the world falls.
1970s - North America
Yanks discover hashing. Americans actually good at drinking and running simultaneously. Who knew?
1980s - BC Invasion
Vancouver gets first Canadian hash. Victoria follows. Campbell River eventually notices.
Today - Nanaimo H3
We carry the torch. Still running. Still drinking. Still completely ridiculous.
